Freeway X Jake One - “She Makes Me Feel Alright” Video
OK, this is not my favorite joint on The Stimulus Package (that honor goes to ”Microphone Killa”), mostly because it’s the ‘girl song’. But what is undeniable about it is that Jake is popping a wheelie here; the ingenuity it takes to flip something as well known as ”Mary Jane”—which has been sampled for a million billion rap songs already—into something with a totally different feel is the mark of an artisan. It’s kind of an answer to Just Blaze‘s epic reworking of another beyond-beat Rick James classic, namely`”Super Freak” into the propulsive, epic title track (which entirely avoids sounding like “U Can’t Touch This") of an otherwise shitty Jay-Z album.
