Freeway - “Escalators” (prod. Jake One)

What is this? A new Freezer cut produced by Uno? With totally tubular bells and a super nostalgically lo-fi drumbeat? It reminds me of something…

Oh yeah. To quote Macklemore: ”Tri-bal”. “Escalators” sounds like the natural bookend to ”Home”, Jake’s tribute to the god Vitamin D. The Tribal sound founded by Vita and Topspin is one near and dear to a lot our hearts and I’m jazzed to see Freeway wanting to go in on such a subduded backdrop. He and Jake are a great combo and it’s clear that the latter is free (no puns) to be himself when working with the dude (even if it’s in homage to his Seatown inspirations).
