So yeah, this is some more of that ‘not rap’ but I got that R ‘n’ B swag so you’ll have to deal with it plus I’ve been waiting to talk about this album since about forever ago.  Finally, Ryan Leslie’s self-titled debut album has hit the ‘netz (and will soon be in stores).  This will easily be the R ‘n’ B album of the year and is SMUSHIN’ every R ‘n’ B album that dropped in the last half decade except for The Dream’s album (yep, i’m counting FutureSex/LoveSounds, Confessions...alladat).  Who else can make R ‘n’ B beats that all the rappers wanna use for their mixtapes?  Needless to say the production is dumbed-the-fuck out, combining the live feel of instrumentation (real drums, pianos, etc) along w/ ridiculous synth programming and the songwriting goes hard.  Not only is it lyrically well written but he and his team write varying progressions for verses, chorus and bridges thus making the songs even more interesting.  Dude is talented as hell and should be a factor in urban music for a LONG time to come.  And if you don’t know where that talent and drive came from, check this old-school classic:
